More VCE exam blunders can now be revealed, with 50 per cent of the Business Management exam available online to students beforehand in an escalation of the 2024 tests scandal.
Along with a barely altered Section B case study worth 20 marks, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) also provided savvy students with wording of question one in Section A, worth 15 marks.
This means that 35 marks of the 75-mark exam were inadvertently leaked by the authority on its own website.
In addition, students say six “word for word” multiple choice questions from VET Information and Communications Technology were leaked.

The leaked Business Management question, available to students from mid October on the exam’s information booklet, known as a cover sheet, was about the operation of a frozen pizzas manufacturer.
It reads: “PeetZaa manufactures a variety of frozen pizzas. The business uses Porter’s lower-cost approach to strategic management, and sources ingredients from a range of low-cost suppliers. Recently, PeetZaa introduced new technology with the goal of improving efficiency and reducing levels of waste in the pizza production process.
These changes have been met with resistance from PeetZaa’s employees.
a. Outline one characteristic of operations management at PeetZaa that demonstrates it is a manufacturing business.”
The real exam contains an eerily similar question about Sammah’s Foodz.
It reads: “Sammah’s Foodz manufactures a variety of frozen savoury food items that are not offered by any of its competitors. Recently, Sammah’s Foodz introduced new technology with the goal of broadening its range of products and reducing levels of waste in the food-production process.
These changes have been met with resistance from Sammah’s Foodz employees.
a. Describe one of the key elements of the operations system at Sammah’s Foodz.”
The business case studies in both examples are both about introducing new technologies to reduce food waste, with the only difference being the business names and slightly more context in the hidden exam case study.
A Herald Sun analysis shows that 22 subjects in total had questions, case studies and prompts available on the cover sheets, with students sharing tips online on how to access them.
In VET Information and Communications Technology, six multiple choice questions were leaked, with one student who sat the exam confirming they were “word-for-word identical” to the actual exam.
“I did the VET Information and Communications Technology exam a few days ago. After seeing the Reddit post, I decided to check its cover sheet on the Wayback Machine. Using ctrl+a and ctrl+c, I was able to copy the 4 multiple choice questions and one short answer question,” one student told the Herald Sun.
“If my memory serves me correctly, the leaked questions are word-for-word identical to the exam I did. Whilst I unfortunately don’t have access to the exam, I just wanted to flag that as something potentially worth investigating.”
It comes as the Victorian Commercial Teachers Association — which is a group for educators who teach business management — said it sent a letter to the VCAA chief executive Kylie White which addressed teachers’ concerns about “any unfair advantage” the bungle may give to students who accessed the hidden content.
Education Minister Ben Carroll said he was alerted to the mistake two weeks ago and ordered the VCAA to rewrite all exam questions, but teachers and students are now finding multiple examples where the only changes made were minor tweaks.
Other compromised exams include Australian Politics, Specialist Maths and Legal Studies.
It’s not yet known how much the leaked questions ended up like the actual exams. Although, it’s understood questions are being asked about the similarity of exam leaks to actual exam questions in Environmental Studies and VET Information and Communications Technology.
The list of 22 subjects which had leaks on exam cover sheets includes English and English as an Additional Language, but the leaked information for these two subjects was instructional and did not include any questions.
The subjects with major amounts of leaked questions include Applied Computing Data Analysis, which had four full multiple choice questions, one four-mark question and one six-mark question.
It’s not yet clear how many of these questions ended up on the final exam.
In Art Making and Exhibiting, a total of 18 marks were leaked from three questions. In Food Studies, two multiple choice questions were leaked and a 14-mark Section B question.
In Global Politics, which has not yet been sat, three alternative questions each worth 20 marks were leaked.
In VET Integrated Technologies, three multiple choice questions were leaked.
Similarly, large slabs of the Music Contemporary Performance and two questions from VET Music: Sound Production were leaked.
In addition, in Product Design and Technologies the set-up for questions one to nine were leaked and in Systems Engineering three questions.
Again, it’s not yet clear how many of these questions across these subjects ended up on the final exam.
Two multiple choice questions appeared as hidden text on the Psychology exam cover sheet, though these did not appear on the actual exam.
