‘Strength and resilience inspired us all’: St Kevin’s remembers student James Buslon

A nine-year-old Hampton Park student has been remembered for his “contagious smile” and strength, following his recent tragic death.

A nine year-old St Kevin’s Primary student has been remembered for his “contagious smile that could brighten the gloomiest of days” after dying from a brain tumour this month.

The Hampton Park school community is now rallying to raise funds to support the family of James Buslon, in its time of need.

James died on July 3 after a brave battle with brain cancer.

Speaking on behalf of the St Kevin’s Primary School community, principal Jason Micallef said the year 3 student had “a spirit that touched the lives of everyone he encountered”.

“Tragically, James’ journey was not without its challenges. He faced a courageous battle against a cancerous brain tumour, displaying strength and resilience that inspired us all,” he said.

“This loss has left a profound void in our hearts, reminding us of the fragility and preciousness of life. During this difficult time, we want to extend our support and comfort to James’ family. As a united community, we now come together to alleviate some of the additional stress that his family is facing during this period of grief.

“Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference … May our collective love and support bring solace and strength to James’s family as they navigate through this difficult chapter of their lives. Let us wrap them in our embrace and be a shining example of what it means to come together as a caring community.”

The school has launched a Go Fund Me to provide financial support for James’ family.
