St Joseph’s College Mildura revealed as richest school in region

The poorest school in the Mildura region raised just $1m a year over the past five years, while the richest raked in more than $90m over the same period. See how much money per child your school makes.

Mildura and surrounds’ richest school has raked in more than $90.8m in five years with the total income per student sitting at $25,157 in 2022, the most recent school funding statistics reveal.

An independent analysis of school financial records from the MySchool website have shown the massive amount of money some schools make every year, and how little some schools are forced to scrape by on.

The figures revealed St Joseph’s College Mildura in Mildura had a higher gross income than any other school in the Mildura and surrounds region.

The school made a gross income of $90.8m, according to financial records from the combined past five years.

The school’s income increased by 27 per cent between 2018 and 2022.

The region’s second richest school was Mildura Senior College, in Mildura, which had a gross income of $80.9m.

Its total gross income per student in 2022 was $21,448.

The school with the third highest gross income was Merbein P-10 College, in Merbein, which made $57.8m.

Its total gross income per student in 2022 was $17,944.

The figures include all fees, charges and parental contributions as well as state and federal government funding and any other private sources over the five years from 2018 to 2022.

It does not include any deductions for capital works or debt servicing.

The analysis does not include special schools or schools that did not have complete financial data in MySchool for one or more of the five years.

Koorlong Primary School at Koorlong had the lowest gross income of any school in the Mildura and surrounds region.

It made just $5.2m over the five year period.

Its total gross income increased by 69 per cent from 2018 to 2022 while the total gross income per student in 2022 was $24,577.

Cardross Primary School at Cardross had the second lowest gross income of any school in the Mildura and surrounds region.

It made just $7m over the five year period.

Its total gross income increased by 39 per cent from 2018 to 2022 while the total gross income per student in 2022 was $17,096.

Red Cliffs East Primary School at Red Cliffs had the third lowest gross income of any school in the Mildura and surrounds region.

It made just $10.2m over the five year period.

Its total gross income increased by 35 per cent from 2018 to 2022 while the total gross income per student in 2022 was $17,557.
