How schools in Wodonga and surrounds performed in NAPLAN 2024

A Montessori school has outranked all other primary schools in the Wodonga region, according to the latest release of NAPLAN results.
Beechworth Montessori School’s grade five cohort scored the highest in reading, spelling, grammar and numeracy, with Osbornes Flat Primary School the only institution to outperform them in writing.
Osbornes Flat — a government school — ranked second for the overall average, with catholic schools St Joseph’s (in Beechworth) and St Monica’s (in Wodonga) also in the top four.
When it came to high school, year nine students at Grace Christian College outranked the rest, with an average score of 592.
Results in the spelling tests were the school’s lowest, but they still ranked number one in that subject compared to other schools in the region.

Victory Lutheran College parents pay the most in Wodonga for their children’s schooling — at least $43,700 for six years of high school — and the school came in second in the rankings.
The leading government school for secondary was: Bright P-12 College.
Myrtleford’s Marian College and Beechworth Secondary College received very similar results, with 0.2 points different in their average score.
Wodonga Senior Secondary College was just outside of the bottom 20 schools in the state.
To determine how each school performed in 2024, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort – Year 5 or Year 9 – were combined and the average found.
Students are tested on the reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy skills.
Special schools, schools with less than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.
