More than 45,000 first round university and TAFE offers revealed

VTAC data shows one fifth of all offers are for a certain type of degree. Search our database to see the thousands of students who got their first round offer.

Year 12 graduates react to ATAR scores

More than 22,000 students have given permission for their first round offers from dozens of university and TAFE institutions to be published.

The relieved students receiving places range from biomedical science at Deakin University to global studies at Monash University and thousands more in between.

Some of the institutions with the smallest number of published offers is the Australian College of Applied Professions and Cairnmillar Institute, each awarding one student with a place.

Other niche institutions include the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, offering game design courses, LCI Melbourne which has design arts courses majoring in interior designs and Photography Studies College (Melbourne) offering digital imaging degrees.

The graphic below lists domestic applicants who have given VTAC permission to have their name published and have been made an offer to an undergraduate course through VTAC in December 2024.

If your name does not appear on this list, don’t panic – you may not have given VTAC permission to release your name for this supplement.

To check the status of your application, go to the “offers” section of your VTAC account.

The provider with the largest number of published offers is Monash University, with 5721 students given first-round places.

RMIT University and the University of Melbourne were next, with 4069 and 3844 offers respectively.

Other published offers include Deakin University with 2850, La Trobe University (1895), Swinburne (1207) and Victoria University (1003).

This year 47,518 tertiary offers were made – an additional 4589 compared to last year’s December round, with further offers to follow in January and February.

For the first time this year, International Baccalaureate (IB) students in Australia have been included in the December offer round.

Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) chief executive Teresa Tjia congratulated year 12 students receiving December round offers.

“Knowing the next step on your learning journey is a wonderful way to end the year,” Ms Tjia said.

VTAC data shows 21.1 per cent of offers were for society and culture courses, including arts, while 16.8 per cent were for health, including nursing and biomedical science.

Other popular study areas include management and commerce with 16.5 per cent of offers, 14.4 per cent for natural and physical sciences and 9.3 per cent for engineering and related courses.

Clyde celebrates early round offer

While most students are eagerly waiting to receive an offer, some high school graduates have already been accepted into a university for next year.

Caroline Chisholm Catholic College graduate Clyde Todd, who received an early offer, said he was ecstatic when he was accepted into a Bachelor of Psychological Science degree at Australian Catholic University.

“I was in school and when I received the offer email I was jumping up and down, it was awesome,” he said.

The 18-year-old’s dream job is to become a child psychologist.

As for what he’s looking forward to most at university, Mr Todd said he was excited about “making new friends and creating a new social network with like-minded people”.

ACU provost and deputy vice-chancellor Julie Cogin said the number of students choosing to study at the tertiary institution had surged this year.

“Victorian applications to ACU are up around five per cent this year overall. The Ballarat campus is up around 7.5 per cent on 2024 applications,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mr Todd’s friend Cameron Crawford also received an early offer to study biomedicine at La Trobe University, with her goal to study dental.

“I’m looking forward to the freedom that (university) brings and the ability to study what you’re passionate about,” she said.

Deakin’s top 10 most popular courses for 2025

Deakin University has made a total of 6081 offers to school leavers in the first round of university offers, a rise of 434 compared to the same round last year.

Exercise and Sport Science was the university’s most popular course among high school graduates.

Nursing and commerce were next on the wish lists of those hoping to undertake tertiary studies, followed by arts and criminology.

Business, science, psychology, biomedical Science and law rounded out the university’s top 10 most popular courses for 2025.

Deakin Distinguished Professor Liz Johnson congratulated those who today received a

first-round offer.

Prof Johnson said university offers was an exciting time for school leavers as they looked to take the next step in their education journeys.

“As the number one Victorian university for graduate employment, teaching quality and student support, we look forward to welcoming a new cohort of students next year,” she said.
