Global sporting powerhouse Liverpool Football Club has partnered with Chadstone’s Salesian College to deliver a high-performance soccer academy.
The new partnership will mark the first school in metropolitan Melbourne to offer an exclusive Liverpool FC academy this year.
The school will also host a range of Liverpool FC training and holiday programs available to all aspiring players in the surrounding community.
Liverpool FC International Academy Australia head of football operations Scott Collis said the club was “proud” and “excited” to work with the school to create a unique environment for students.
“Right from the start of discussions we could sense Salesian’s strong commitment to whole of person development, caring for community and creating an environment where young people are encouraged to strive for their best while recognising values such as respect and integrity,” Mr Collis said.
Salesian College Chadstone principal Mark Ashmore said the school was a welcoming community renowned for its integrity and creative learning approaches.
“This really is a dream come true for our students and our community – and we are thrilled to be able to extend these training offerings to our broader community,” he said.
“We are delighted to be working with Liverpool FC International Academy to bring this opportunity to our families.”
LFC International Academies vice president Dan White said the club was delighted to be working with Salesian.
“This project will ensure even more young players can be part of Liverpool FC in Australia,” he said.
“The school-based program, after-school sessions and holiday camps will provide a range of opportunities for local players to get involved in this great initiative.
“Our aim is to deliver programs that are truly unique, developing participants both on and off the pitch.”
Mr White said he also encouraged local football coaches to join the academy.
“A key component of this project is the opportunities that will be provided to local coaches,
who will be comprehensively trained and accredited by LFC.
“This focus on coach education is key to the success of this project and a central component of our approach.”
