A scandal has engulfed a western suburbs state school, with students trolling a teacher who allegedly repeated another student’s offensive comments.

A teacher from Braybrook Secondary College repeated the shocking incident to what is understood to be another staff member.

It’s believed the incident occurred last month, with students unfairly calling for the teacher to be “cancelled”.

The teacher, who repeated what was said on the soccer pitch, has been trolled on social media apps including TikTok, with photos of her circulating and captions targeting her.

Some of the accounts also target other students at the school, with one caption on a video saying: “She couldn’t even stick up or herself”, referring to what is believed to be another incident involving a fight.

It comes after another recent controversial incident where students had been left outraged after a Monash University tutor allegedly used a racial slur repeatedly during a popular cultures class.

Teaching associate Gary Lacey was accused of using the n-word “quite liberally” in the “From Freud to Friends: Ethnic Identity in Popular Culture” tutorial at the university’s Clayton campus on Monday.

A Monash University spokeswoman said the incident was under investigation.

A report, released last year, revealed that ninety-five per cent of girls and 78 per cent of boys of African descent said they had been discriminated against because of their race, ethnicity or religion.

The Herald Sun also previously revealed that a South African student had been targeted with the N-word at a school in Wantirna South.

Braybrook Secondary College principal Kellie Panousieris said the school was aware of an incident that occurred last week and has taken appropriate action.”

“There is absolutely no room for racism at our school, and this incident in no way reflects the inclusive, safe environment for students from all cultural backgrounds at Braybrook SC,” she said.

Staff members at the school have worked extremely hard in recent years to support cultural inclusion and safety for all students and staff.
