Aquinas College students have been caught on camera stealing at Eastland and students have been told to stay away from the shopping centre.

The deputy principal of the Ringwood co-ed Catholic school has written to students telling them a store owner had reported the incidents.

“Each reported case has been proven to be true, with CCTV footage confirming some students making poor choices,” Dr Napolean Rodenzo told students last week.

“The vendor has indicated that they will be reporting matters from this point onwards to the Victoria Police,” he wrote.

“Please avoid going into stores unless you have a need and plan to purchase something. The store will be keeping a close eye on Aquinas students.

“Please stay away from Eastland unless you have to and please be considerate of others. Theft is never OK and chances are, those doing it will get caught.

“Consequences are beyond the school as the matter may involve reporting to the police from this point onwards,” Dr Rodenzo wrote.

He reminded students at the school “has a very positive reputation in the community and it is unfortunate that the actions of a few students have changed the views of some people because of this”.

The caution comes as the college was forced to discipline students over a “sex map” created by year 11 students which included details of which students have a crush on each other or are in a relationship.

Dr Rodenzo told students the document, which is still available on social media, was “highly inappropriate”.

The school’s principal Darren Atkinson denied it was a “sex map” and said it merely “joined” students in a relationship or friendship. One parent who contacted the Herald Sun in light of the incident said he thought the school had handled the issue in a responsive and appropriate way.
