Inside the courtroom: Mushroom cook Erin Patterson faces court for day 4 of murder trial

Nearly two years ago, Erin Patterson cooked a mushroom meal for her family. She is now on trial for murder. Today, her estranged husband returned to the witness box.

We’re back for the fourth day of the trial of Erin Patterson at the Supreme Court in Morwell.

Ms Patterson is accused of murdering her former in-laws Don and Gail Patterson, as well as Gail’s sister Heather Wilkinson, with a deadly mushroom meal at her Leongatha home on July 29, 2023.

She is also accused of attempting to kill Heather’s husband Ian Wilkinson, who survived the meal.

Ms Patterson has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and says what happened was a “tragedy and a terrible accident”.
