Two arrested, drugs, cash seized in Melbourne raids

A man and woman have been arrested, and drugs, along with $13 million in cash, have been seized by police in a series of Melbourne raids.

Arrests after Port Melbourne drug and cash bust

A $13 million stash of cash and a stockpile of drugs have been seized in major Melbourne police raids today.

Detectives from the clandestine laboratory squad carrying out a series of raids in Port Melbourne and Brunswick West made the discoveries today.

The cash was found at a property in Turville Place, Port Melbourne.

A 29-year-old Port Melbourne woman was arrested at that home and a 32-year-old Port Melbourne man was detained nearby.

Commander Mick Frewen said a lab was allegedly cooking drugs behind a roller door at the Turville Place property.

Two vehicles have been confiscated from that property by officers from Operation Bannockburn, the long running inquiry which culminated in today’s swoop.

Also seized in the raids were kilograms of drugs, glassware and precursor chemicals which could be used in drug manufacturing.

Officers involved in the 12-month investigation also carried out warrants at Sugar Lane, Port Melbourne, a storage facility in Salmon St, Port Melbourne, Larnoo Avenue in Brunswick West and Hope St, Brunswick.

The two arrested remain in police custody.
