Tony Mokbel’s de facto stepdaughter ‘too smashed’ to recall triple shooting

Tony Mokbel’s de facto stepdaughter and best friend have failed to recall the events surrounding the deadly triple shooting outside the Melbourne Pavilion in 2019. The pair claim a cocktail of alcohol and drugs has impaired their memory.

Police search for three men after Melbourne shooting

The de facto stepdaughter of drug kingpin Tony Mokbel has claimed she can’t remember anything about the night her boyfriend and friends allegedly shot dead a young father and wounded two others at a Kensington boxing match because she was high on a cocktail of Moscato and prescription pills.

Brittany McGuire, 23, and best friend Shanae Pericic, 21, were hauled before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, after being ordered to give evidence about the deadly triple shooting at the Melbourne Pavilion in March last year.

The women, who were friends with the accused and seated at the same table at the boxing event, had until Tuesday refused to co-operate with the police investigation.

They are among a dozen witnesses who will front court this week after being slapped with compulsory examination orders by detectives.

Tensions ran high as the women kept the court waiting more than four hours while they smoked cigarettes and contemplated whether they would comply with the court orders after arriving without a lawyer or legal advice.

When Ms McGuire – who is dating accused shooter Abdullah El Nasher – eventually entered the witness box in the late afternoon she said her memory was “very, very faint” because she had taken three Valium, half a Xanax tablet and drunk bottles of wine and vodka on the night of the shooting.

“I cant remember much ... I was Xanied,” she told the court.

The gangland darling also claimed she could not remember her mobile phone number, her address or what car she, Ms Pericic and Mr El Nasher drove to the boxing match.

Ms Pericic also said she couldn’t recall much of the night because she was “ten out of ten” drunk and had downed eight Valium over the course of a couple of hours.

“I was really Vallied,” she said.

Ms Pericic said she vaguely remembers hearing a commotion outside the boxing event but was pulled back inside the venue by security before being led to safety by Horty Mokbel – brother of Tony.

In court the family of slain father Ben Togiai, 30, became emotional as the young women smiled and laughed with the four accused who were appearing via video link.

Ms Pericic was seen blowing a kiss to one of the men, but when asked about it under oath by prosecutor Neill Hutton she said she was “just touching her nose”.
