A dramatic game of cat and mouse saw police pursue a 14-year-old boy from Geelong to Werribee, before he leapt from a moving car in a daring attempt to escape. But he wasn’t on the run for long.

A teenage boy accused of a major crime spree leapt from a moving car after a high-speed police chase.
The 14-year-old was dramatically arrested in Werribee on Tuesday after playing a long game of cat and mouse with police.
Officers spotted a stolen Audi A5 sedan speeding through Footscray and Sunshine on Tuesday.
Police tried to intercept the car – stolen during an aggravated burglary in Werribee on Saturday – but failed as the driver took off.
Police believe the male drove toward Geelong before allegedly committing a burglary at a home in George St in Newtown about 5pm.
The resident came home during the incident and witnessed the male flee the scene.
Police later spotted the stolen Audi allegedly travelling at 140kmh on Thompsons Rd in North Geelong and pursued the car to Werribee.
The police air wing and dog squad were called in and officers on the ground laid out stop sticks on Pine Ave in Werribee about 7.30pm.
The teen jumped from the impacted car as it continued to move and crash into a fence.
He jumped over a fence to escape police but was arrested by the dog squad in a yard in Beamish St a short time later.
The teen has been charged with a string of serious offences including was charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, robbery, obtain property by deception, evade police, reckless conduct endangering life, drive at a speed dangerous, dangerous driving while pursued by police and unlicensed driving.
He was remanded overnight to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
