Potentially lethal nail-bombs were allegedly found among homemade explosives seized by police.
At least two of the seven devices were found at a Geelong home on the weekend, sparking a major police operation which ran into Monday.
The first was found alight in the letterbox of a Monterey Drive, Waurn Ponds, home at 2.45am Sunday.
It was quickly extinguished but another was found in a tree later in the morning.
Bomb response unit officers ordered that the area be cordoned off until the device was rendered safe.
A search of a home later allegedly uncovered more of the improvised explosive devices.
The Herald Sun has been told some were nail bombs, which can cause horrific damage when detonated.
A Waurn Ponds man, 31, has been arrested and interviewed by police.
The man has been charged with manufacturing explosives, using explosives and conduct endangering life.
