Police release CCTV of Richmond player Nick Vlastuin’s home going up in flames

Dramatic CCTV footage has captured the moment flames erupted at the Torquay home of Richmond defender Nick Vlastuin, where a hooded figure doused the doorway in liquid before making a swift getaway.

Police have released CCTV of a person they’re seeking in relation to a suspicious fire at Richmond player Nick Vlastuin’s Torquay property.

Sensational video captured on the early hours of Friday morning shows a hooded figure approach carrying what appears to be fuel before dousing the property.

The man – whose face is obscured by a mask and baseball cap — stands back before tossing a match from out of frame and sending flames roaring meters high.

Torquay Crime Investigation Unit confirmed it was investigating the blaze which damaged the front entrance and porch of the Grandview Road coastal property.

“Police are yet to make any arrests and the investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesman said.

“Investigators have released CCTV and photos of a person they believe can assist with their inquiries.”

Fire crews were on scene at about 1.50am and brought the fire quickly under control.

The AFL confirmed on Friday that the defender, who was knocked out cold in the first quarter of Saturday’s grand final, had been living in Torquay during the league’s COVID-19 shutdown.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
