A mother and son were found dead at a Notting Hill home in a possible murder-suicide tragedy.
The bodies of Ingrid House, 63, and her son Nicholas House, 34, were discovered by another son in the backyard of her Wooral Ct home yesterday morning.
Family and friends are struggling to comprehend the tragedy.
Ms House’s sister-in-law Alison House told the Herald Sun the family were devastated.
“It is difficult to understand,” she said.
“We don’t know the circumstances.”
Other family members attended the property today but were too upset to speak.
Ms House had three sons and is believed to have lived at the property for several years.
The home was combed for hours by forensic police and detectives yesterday.
Detectives from Monash Crime Investigation are leading the investigation with the assistance of the Homicide Squad unit.
One theory being investigated by police is that the mother and son died in a murder-suicide.
Investigators have not revealed how the pair died or what led to the tragedy.
Last September Mr House wrote on Facebook he had endured “one of the sh.ttest years” of his life.
He appeared to have a close relationship with his immediate and extended family.
