The victim is in hospital and his accused attacker under arrest after a chain of assaults in a public park and at a home in the Dandenong area.

In the first of Sunday’s incidents, the hand of a 32-year-old Dandenong South was severed in an attack, which happened at 3pm in a reserve off Kidds Rd.

The second, a 47-year-old, suffered injuries described by police as not life-threatening.

A 54-year-old Dandenong man was later arrested and charged with serious offences.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a committal hearing on October 26.

“All parties are known to each other and the exact circumstances surrounding the incidents are yet to be determined at this stage,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
