A man has been charged over a stabbing that left a woman with life-threatening injuries in Elwood on Australia Day.
Emergency services were called to a set of flats in Southey Grove about 7.30pm Sunday.
A man believed to be in his 40s was arrested by police at the scene before he was today charged with attempted murder, intentionally causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury.

Police believe the pair is known to each other.
The woman, aged in her 50s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition, where she remains in a stable condition.
She was taken to The Alfred hospital and treated for upper body injuries.
The man will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
