Homicide probe after woman’s body found in East Gippsland
A 64-year-old man has been charged with murdering a woman in East Gippsland. Police believe the parties are known to each other.

A man has been charged with murdering a woman in East Gippsland in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police were called to Bendoc, 518km east Melbourne, a small town of around 115 people near the NSW border, about 3.30am following reports of an assault.
When police arrived at the address they found a 65-year-old woman deceased.
A 64-year-old man who is known to the woman was taken into custody and on Tuesday night was charged with one count of murder.
He was remanded to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Homicide squad detectives and major crime scene investigators combed the scene.
“Police believe all parties are known to each other and the investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
The deadly assault is one of three fresh homicide investigations detectives have been called to in the last week.
Overnight a 22-year-old man was arrested after a shooting in a quiet Endeavour Hills street. Residents reported a gunshot and screaming before a man’s body was found slumped in a car.
The victim is yet to be formally identified.
Last week South Melbourne woman Ellie Price was found murdered in her apartment after police conducted a welfare check.
Her killer remains on the run.
