Four road deaths in long weekend carnage

Another person has died on Victorian roads over the long weekend, with a shocking three fatalities in 24 hours on Saturday.

A man has died after his car reportedly rolled in a crash near Horsham overnight, bringing this weekend’s road toll to four.

Police were called to the scene after a passing motorist discovered the wreckage on Stawell-Warracknabeal Road in Minyip just after 1am this morning.

The man, who was the only person in the vehicle, is yet to be formally identified and died at the scene near Horsham.

Investigators believe he crashed after losing control of his vehicle.

He is the fourth person killed in a fatal Victorian road incident this long weekend, with three people losing their life on Sunday.

A male driver died on Saturday morning after he collided with another vehicle at an intersection in Hazelwood North.

A 45-year-old motorcyclist from Cockatoo died just before 10am, when a vehicle collided with his bike in Emerald.

A Narre Warren man, 37, was charged with dangerous driving causing death and was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 12 March.

Just hours after the Emerald crash another motorcyclist was killed, crashing into a tree along Kurrajong Gap Road near Albury-Wodonga.
