Fire destroys multiple vehicles at wreckers yard

Firefighters were confronted with thick black smoke at a wreckers yard in Campbellfield after ten cars were destroyed by a fire.

A fire has destroyed multiple vehicles at a car wreckers yard in Melbourne’s north.

The blaze broke out at the site on Ari Drive, Campbellfield at about 5:15pm on Friday.

Firefighters entered through thick black smoke and were able to bring the fire under control by 5.50pm.

By that stage the flames had damaged 10 vehicles, a Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
