The father of a man missing for close to a month fears the worst for his “big, fun-loving giant” who has vanished without a trace in the Latrobe Valley.

Police are investigating the mysterious disappearance of Newborough man Jarrad Lovison, who was last seen on April 15.

His desperate father, John Lovison, has begged anyone who knows anything about his son’s whereabouts to come forward to police.

“He went out like a normal day, like he normally did and never came home,” he said.

“He never had a bad bone in his body. So many people love him.

“We want anyone who knows anything to tell police, so we can bring him home.”

The best mate of a man who has “vanished off the face of the earth” in the Latrobe Valley says he won’t give up looking for him.

Detectives from the missing persons squad are investigating the mysterious disappearance of 37-year-old Newborough man Jarrad Lovison.

They are treating it as suspicious.

Mr Lovison’s best friend of two decades, Adam Reddiex, said it was uncharacteristic of him to go missing.

“We haven’t heard from him, it is unlike him,” Mr Reddiex said.

“I’ve got no idea where he’s gone. He’s a gentle, genuine bloke.”

He said Mr Lovison was single with no kids and could not be missed at with his 2.1m height.

Mr Lovison was working in the timber industry at the time of his disappearance and in the past had worked as a nightclub bouncer.

He was also looking to move to Queensland in coming months.

Police said he was last seen on April 15 riding his green mountain bike — which has not yet been found — along March St in Newborough.

Mr Lovison was last captured on CCTV at the Kmart and Woolworths in Moe and went on to meet a friend on Belvedere Street in Newborough.

Loved ones said it was unusual for Mr Lovison to go anywhere without his black Labrador, Slade, which was found at the home he shared with his father.

Desperate mates have posted pleas on social media for anyone with information to come forward to police.

“I just want to find him first and foremost,” Mr Reddiex said.

“That’s what his parents want too. It is out of character to not be in contact, he has got a lot of friends.

“He’s always been there for me, we are not going to give up until we find him.”

Detective Sergeant Graham Hamilton from the Missing Persons Squad said there had been “absolutely no contact” from Jarrad since April 16.

“Things were coming together for Jarrad,” Det Sgt Hamilton said.

“He keeps his mum and dad informed of what he does. We have very serious concerns.”

Mr Lovison is 213cm tall with a slim build and a shaved head and was last seen wearing a dark coloured top and pants, as well as dark runners with red socks.

Detectives have released several images of Mr Lovison, including one in a beanie that he sent to friends on the night of his disappearance.

Anyone who can provide information regarding his current whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
