A decorated former detective is being investigated by a sexual harassment taskforce.

Gippsland-based former Detective Leading Senior Constable Danny Shaddock has been the subject of a Taskforce Salus investigation since 2018.

The taskforce examines claims of sexual predatory behaviour and serious sexual harassment and discrimination within Victoria Police.

Several women have lodged complaints against Mr Shaddock, who was suspended by Victoria Police and had his firearm license suspended amid the investigation.

It is examining allegations he broke into a woman’s home, damaged her property and car, and stole possessions.

There are also claims he used a police database to make inappropriate searches on people.

The Herald Sun is not suggesting the allegations are true, only that they are being investigated.

Mr Shaddock worked for criminal investigation units based in Warragul and Morwell.

When questioned about the allegations, Mr Shaddock told the Herald Sun he was the victim of mistreatment by the women.

“I have provided a record of interview and look forward to clearing my name,” he said.

He claimed the Taskforce Salus probe was corrupt and that he had lodged a complaint about the matter with the independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission.

Detectives have interviewed former police colleagues and family members of Mr Shaddock as part of the investigation.

There are claims some of his former colleagues were aware of his alleged offending but failed to take action.

Victoria Police would not comment on these claims but confirmed Mr Shaddock was the subject of an active investigation.

“A former Detective Leading Senior Constable from the Eastern Region remains under investigation by Taskforce Salus,” the spokeswoman said.

“At this stage, no charges have been laid. The investigation remains ongoing.

“The former member is no longer employed by Victoria Police.”

Mr Shaddock was awarded an Order of Australia Bravery Award for helping rescue four men from a storage tank that filled with ammonia fumes at a farm in Cloverlea in 2013.

He was charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury following a road arrest near Swan Hill in 2011.

It was alleged Mr Shaddock used an object to assault Daniel Barbary, 22, while he was handcuffed on the ground following a dramatic gunpoint arrest.

Mr Shaddock denied the allegations and was found not guilty following an 11-day trial at the Bendigo County Court in 2016.
