Fight night mayhem accused Ali El Nasher is behind bars after being charged with attempted murder.
El Nasher is one of two men locked up over a stabbing outside a house in Campbellfield, in Melbourne’s north, last week.
He was arrested last Friday at Docklands by members of the special operations group.
El Nasher, of Docklands, was on bail over violence which left one man dead at a boxing tournament at the Melbourne Pavilion in Kensington two years ago.
He was charged with the attempted murder of shooting victim Joseph Abouchaya, who he allegedly kicked in the head as he lay on the ground.
Mr Abouchaya and another man survived their bullet-wounds but a third victim, Ben Togiai died.
El Nasher is not accused of the shootings.
The 30-year-old has now been charged by detectives from Hume CIU over an incident at a Somerset Rd address last Thursday which left the 26-year-old victim with what police said were, at the time, life-threatening injuries.
He and the other stabbing accused, a 23-year-old from Roxburgh Park, face counts of attempted murder, conduct endangering serious injury and other assault-related charges.
El Nasher will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court again in May and his accused co-offender faces court today.
Police last year applied to have El Nasher’s bail revoked after he was brutally attacked at St Kilda marina at a time when he should have been at home under a court-ordered curfew.
His legal team successfully argued the engine of the boat he was on had broken down and that was why he was late.
Echo taskforce detective Brendan Humby had argued that, if released back into the community, there were concerns Mr El Nasher would seek revenge over the bashing.
The curfew related to the Melbourne Pavilion brawl.
