A pregnant mother is being remembered as loving and selfless, as homicide detectives investigate her death while her former partner remains under police guard in hospital.
Mother of two Michelle Darragh, 32, died at her former Bayswater North home on Saturday night with her ex-partner, Ben Coman, taken to hospital with critical injuries.
Emergency services were called to the Huntington Ave property in Melbourne’s east just after 7.30pm, with the pair located inside the property.
Ms Darragh – a social worker, with a third child on the way – died at the scene.
Her devastated brother remembered her as “a beautiful soul who put everyone’s needs before herself”.
“Our family has lost a beautiful daughter and sister … we are beside ourselves with emotion,” the brother said, according to Nine.
“She absolutely adored her boys and gave her life to them.”
It is understood the couple had recently separated but previously lived together with their sons at the Bayswater North home.
Ms Darragh allegedly arrived at the property on Saturday afternoon, with Mr Coman seen going for a walk around the neighbourhood about that time.
The Herald Sun understands the 29-year old is a tradesman operating a custom joinery and shop fitting business.
“Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
Neighbour Trent Falahey said he was left “rattled and shaken” after the shocking incident.
He said he saw Ms Darragh’s parents crying outside of the property, with her mother asking whether he had “heard anything”.
Mr Falahey described the pair as a “fantastic” and “lovely couple” who had lived in the property for three to four years before they separated.
“They were great neighbours … it is a pretty tight neighbourhood we all know each other,” he said.
Mr Falahey said Ms Darragh would regularly visit the property on weekends with their two children after the pair split up.
He said he spoke to the tradesman and asked “whether he was OK about everything” the day before the incident occurred.
“He was fine, he said he was OK,” Mr Falahey said.
The property was cordoned off with blue and white police tape on Sunday morning as forensic experts continued the police investigation from overnight.
A pile of what appeared to be bloody clothes could be seen inside the property.
