A woman has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Melbourne’s west.
Police allege a purple Holden Commodore collided with a Volkswagen Golf at the intersection of Dunnings Rd and Boardwalk Boulevard in Point Cook about 11pm on Friday.
Police also allege the driver of the Commodore fled on foot.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives arrested a 25-year-old man after tracking him back to his Point Cook home.
The 53-year-old Point Cook woman behind the wheel of the Golf was taken to hospital in a critical condition, succumbing to her injuries on Sunday.
The man has been charged with negligently causing serious injury, failing to stop and render assistance and other driving offences.
He was due to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday night.
