A woman accused of a horror-hit run which killed her sister, who was dragged by a moving car and pinned between two vehicles in Melbourne’s west, had been arguing with her in the moments before, a court has heard.

Brookfield woman Asyai Luk, 22, was granted bail in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday night after being charged by detectives with dangerous driving causing death and failure to stop and render assistance.

She allegedly drove off after her 24-year-old sister was left with fatal injuries following the collision in Sunshine on Monday about 3pm.

The prosecutor told the court that the two sisters had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation before Ms Luk got out of the car and went to get help from nearby residents.

“The accused returned to the driver side of the vehicle and continued with a verbal altercation with their sister,” the prosecutor said.

“The accused (could) be seen waving an item of clothing toward the victim while still inside the vehicle.”

The court heard Ms Luk’s sister was “kicked out” of the front passenger side door and tried to re-enter the vehicle in a “distressed” state.

It is then when Ms Luk tried to drive off, the court was told.

“The accused accelerated the vehicle causing the tires to squeal,” the prosecutor said.

The vehicle then collided with a white Jeep, which was parked nearby, causing the sister’s head to strike its tow bar.

She became pinned between the vehicles.

“The victim has lost her grip on the door and collided with the stationary parked vehicle with her face impacting the front bumper bar,” the prosecutor said.

Witnesses told the Herald Sun the victim suffered major bleeding from the head as a result of the crash.

“It was pretty horrific, it was like something out of a horror show,” witness Daniel Gomez said.

“Basically (the vehicle) just took off, hit the other bumper, she dropped to the ground and she (the driver) just kept going. Didn’t stop.”

Mr Gomez said the victim was bleeding “from the head down”.

“The blood was coming out left, right and centre,” he said.

“She was crying. We tried to do the best we could to keep her alive.”

In granting bail on Tuesday, Magistrate Jason Ong noted the seriousness of the charges, putting strict conditions in place.

Ms Luk appeared in court Melbourne Magistrates’ Court with no family in attendance.
