Four more teenagers including a 13-year-old have been arrested after two cyclists were allegedly hit by a stolen car on Beach Rd on January 23.

Police on Friday morning arrested the group of teens aged 13, 14 and 16-years-old.

The 13-year-old boy was charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old boy was hit with five offences including reckless conduct endanger life, intentionally cause serious injury, theft of motor vehicle, and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of theft of motor vehicle.

The Herald Sun can reveal one of the 16-year-olds has been charged over an alleged robbery involving an axe among other serious crimes.

Charge sheets allege the boy, who was on bail at the time, stole a 2014 Lexus Wagon worth $16K in Chadstone on Tuesday 30 January and attempted to steal a second car in Camberwell the following day.

The boy is also charged with unlawful assault and robbery in Dandenong North.

Charge sheets state he was armed with an axe when he robbed his victim’s mobile phone on Wednesday 31 January.

He is also accused of stealing house keys and a handbag worth $500 in Keysborough on Monday 29 January.

The boy appeared before a childrens’ court on Friday where his lawyer said he would apply for bail.

Before the magistrate appeared, the boy refused instruction by his lawyer to remove his cap during court proceedings and appeared to obstruct his video link from Parkville Youth Justice Precinct.

The case will return to court on Friday February 9.

A 15-year-old boy was released pending summons for theft of a motor vehicle.

Friday’s development follows the arrests of two 16-year-olds on Wednesday.

The Herald Sun can reveal many of the six youths arrested were already on bail at the time of the alleged offence.

It can also be revealed some of the group were being homed in residential youth care.

At least one of the six youths was both on bail and living in residential care at the same time.

Many of the crew are also claiming to be the driver at the time of impact.

While the force earlier had a general idea of the gang involved, they have since worked diligently to determine exactly who was associated with the hits.

It comes after an underage teen driver accused of smashing into cyclists on Beach Rd in horror incidents filmed and posted to social media was charged with stealing two cars that same day.

Charge sheets reveal the boy is accused of stealing two cars that same day, including a $20k 2015 Nissan Pathfinder at Mont Albert North, and a $10k Holden Astra from Beaumaris.

Police earlier said that a Holden Astra, stolen from Preston on January 21, was allegedly used to drive at the cyclists, who were hospitalised with serious injuries.

Two 16-year-old boys were arrested on Wednesday night, with the alleged driver facing a children’s court on Thursday and the second boy taken to hospital under police guard.

He is expected to be charged with theft of a motor vehicle.

A police statement on Thursday read: “Police will allege a boy was driving the stolen vehicle when it struck the cyclists and failed to stop to render assistance.”

The boy who faced court was hit with 13 charges, as a magistrate was told it was his first time in custody.

The teen, who sat in the dock with a hooded jumper over his head and his arms crossed, looked down as his lawyer said he would make an application for bail next Friday.

He was remanded in custody until that date as he faced offences including reckless conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury, driving in a dangerous manner, failing to stop and render assistance and stealing two cars.

Separately, police said he was charged over an alleged robbery at a shopping centre on the Nepean Highway in Cheltenham on Australia Day, and that he will also face charges over an alleged aggravated burglary in Bluegrass Close in Waterways on January 27.

Avid cyclist Glen Gibson, 51, was one of the men allegedly struck by the car while riding along Beach Rd, leaving the hospital with a back brace and in “good spirits”.

The second cyclist was a 72-year-old man from Bentleigh East.

Police found the allegedly stolen Holden Astra involved in the incidents dumped at Central Ave, Black Rock soon afterwards.

It’s believed the car was stolen from a gathering in Preston on January 21.
