A thug who twice tried to run over a tow truck driver instead smashed into parked cars, his victim leaving a trail of blood as he escaped the bungled daylight attack.
Ali El Nasher, 31, previously embroiled in the Kensington fight night mayhem, pleaded guilty to trying to reverse over his unsuspecting victim as he made a routine delivery to MA Expert Motor in Campbellfield, on February 11.
But when El Nasher failed to drive over him, instead crashing into multiple cars, he and 25-year-old mate Rickard Markhail — armed with a knife — went after the man on foot.
The Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard the pair took turns stabbing at their victim in a “frenzied and sustained attack” that afternoon, the man eventually escaping out the back of the factory leaving a trail of blood.
No motive was given for the ambush — originally treated as an attempted murder — during the hearing on Thursday, where the duo pleaded guilty to affray and causing injury.
Their victim was hospitalised with a collapsed lung and stab wounds to the neck and chest while a police tactical team came for El Nasher the next day.
The “graphic” attack was caught on CCTV, which Magistrate Donna Bakos refused to release to the public as it “could cause significant distress”.
El Nasher and Markhail failed in stopping their case from going up to the County Court, with Ms Bakos finding she didn’t have the “adequate sentencing power” to deal with them.
They will face a plea hearing at the County Court on March 4.
Meanwhile, El Nasher — who had been charged with attempted murder over the fight night mayhem at Melbourne Pavillion in March 2019 — has had that charge dismissed.
El Nasher had been accused of stomping on Joseph Aboucaya’s head after he was shot three times outside the boxing event.
He remains on remand at Barwon prison.
