Three teenagers including two 13-year-olds have been charged over a five-hour police pursuit which ended at a soccer match in Melbourne’s southeast.
Police were alerted to an allegedly stolen car spotted driving erratically on the Monash Freeway in Chadstone about 10.15am on Sunday morning.
The vehicle was monitored driving across several suburbs over the next five hours before it finally came to a stop at Notting Hill about 3.30pm.
The driver and two passengers allegedly attempted to get away on foot but were found by police and arrested shortly after near Monsah University in Clayton.
It is understood the arrests interrupted an under-16’s soccer match.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and committing an indictable offence while on bail, police said in a statement on Monday.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated exposure of an emergency services worker to risk by driving, reckless conduct endangering life, theft of motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and dangerous driving while being pursued by police.
A 14-year-old boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle.
All three were from outer southeastern suburbs.
The three alleged offenders have been bailed and are set to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
