Three 14-year-old children have been arrested, charged and bailed after their alleged 230km/h joy ride in a stolen Mercedes was brought to an end with the help of the dog squad.
Officers patrolling Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs overnight spotted an allegedly stolen Mercedes sedan on Melbourne Rd in Spotswood about 2.20am.
It is alleged to have been stolen from Northcote on May 25 or 26.
The teenage trio is accused of travelling at speeds up to 230km/h at times as the vehicle cruised through Werribee, Laverton, Point Cook, Tullamarine, Fawkner, Thomastown, Reservoir, Bundoora and Kingsbury.
The teens then dumped the vehicle on The Fairway in Kingsbury, near Reservoir, before the dog squad and patrolling officers arrested the group nearby.
Officers on Tuesday charged a 14-year-old boy with theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endanger life, speed dangerous, dangerous driving and unlicensed driving.
He also sustained an injury from a dog bite.
He was then bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
Another 14-year-old boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endanger life, speed dangerous, dangerous driving and unlicensed driving.
He, too, was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
And a 14-year-old girl was charged with theft of motor vehicle and was also bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
