A group of teenage thugs who were allegedly clocked driving at speeds well above 150km/h in an allegedly stolen car have been charged over a wild aggravated burglary in Brighton.

Detectives from Moorabbin’s crime investigative unit have been told four children rocked up to a home in an allegedly stolen Volkswagen Golf on South Rd about 5am Tuesday.

Police allege the crew gained entry to the home before being scared away by the occupants, fleeing in the Golf.

That vehicle was tracked by the Airwing where they met a fifth child, who was driving a Volkswagen Amarok, allegedly stolen from nearby Railway Ave in Brighton.

The pair of VWs then cruised around Melbourne’s eastern suburbs allegedly at speeds exceeding 150km/h.

The Amarok was then dumped along Stella Ave in Noble Park and the group of five then fled in the Golf.

Officers continued to track the crooked teens to the Rowville area and stop sticks were successfully deployed on Armstrong Rd.

They ran from the car but were quickly arrested with help from the dog squad.

The group were arrested and charged on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday’s arrests come just days after an “infuriated” Brighton local took the youth crime epidemic into his own hands, chasing down another teen who allegedly stole his car.

Chris Riddell, a 42-year-old Brighton man, on Sunday chased a pair of teens alleged to have stole his Land Rover about 3am.

Police then arrested the 15-year-old near the Kamesburgh gardens.

“I was in thongs, shorts and a T-shirt as well. It’s about as Aussie as it gets, I was not ready for a run in the slightest,” he told the Herald Sun.

He was charged with theft of motor vehicle and driving without a licence and will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
