Teenagers arrested after a series of aggravated burglaries and vehicle thefts

Four teens have been charged after allegedly stealing cars from multiple suburbs while they were on bail.

Three boys on bail stole seven cars after getting into 11 unlocked homes and vehicles across Melbourne.

The trio and another teenager are facing 60 charges over the string of aggravated burglaries committed in a cross-city wave.

Investigators from the southern metro crime team saw two vehicles stolen in the thefts being driven into James Wyman Place in Hampton Park on Wednesday.

The officers watched as a man and three teens walked into a house where they were arrested soon after.

The group of teens is facing 60 charges after an alleged crime spree.

Detectives will allege they were involved in a succession of aggravated burglaries, burglaries, vehicle thefts and attempted break-ins between January 20 and 25.

Those happened in suburbs including Deanside, Burnley, Epping, Warranwood, Sandhurst, Mt Martha, Wollert, Templestowe, and Cranbourne.

Police said they entered 11 properties and vehicles via unlocked windows and doors.

Six of the seven cars stolen have been recovered by police.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, have each been charged with aggravated home invasion, aggravated burglary, motor vehicle theft, theft and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

Two were remanded and one was bailed.

The 18-year-old arrested faces counts of aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, attempted aggravated burglary, and attempted theft of motor vehicle.

He was remanded to appear before the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on January 31.
