A 17-year-old girl has been charged with murder after a teenager was stabbed before he died at a home in Mildura.

Talented motocross rider, Seb O’Halloran, was killed at a Limpidi Drive property about 1.05am on Saturday.

Paramedics attempted to revive him but the 18-year-old later died at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives charged the girl with one count of murder on Sunday.

The girl faced a childrens’ court hearing on Sunday afternoon.

The court heard it was her first time behind bars and that she needed to be seen by a custody nurse for cuts and bruises to her body.

CCTV footage and DNA samples will form part of the case against the teen.

Her mother was present throughout the virtual hearing.

She sat with her arms crossed and responded “no” when asked if she had any questions about the court proceedings.

She was remanded in custody until her next court date on November 9.

Mr O’Halloran’s friend, Jesse Harris, told the Herald Sun a bunch of their mates were at The Setts nightclub when Mr O’Halloran suddenly left.

“He had to leave to do something and I was meant to go with him but decided I would stay at the club and wait for him,” he said.

“He told me he would be back for me and a few others so I stayed back with the other boys.

“I still sit here now waiting for him to come back to me like he said.”

After Mr O’Halloran left the club, he went to the Limpidi Drive home where an argument allegedly broke out between a teenage girl and boy.

It’s believed Mr O’Halloran came in between the pair and was allegedly stabbed.

It’s unclear why Mr O’Halloran went to the property but it’s understood he knew the teens.

Mr Harris said his mate always looked out for others.

“He was the mate that would chase after us if we needed his help when we were in trouble,” he said.

“He taught everyone of his mates a different lesson and had a different connection with all of us, he was one-of-a-kind and no one will ever be able to replace him.”

Mr Harris said Mr O’Halloran was a leader.

“It is so unfair and no one deserves this at all,” he said.

“Not a day will go by that I won’t look up in the sky looking for him.”

It comes as Mr O’Halloran’s death devastated his close-knit circle of friends and Mildura’s motocross community.

Eric Woulfe said he would “put (his) best foot forward every day” in honour of his mate.

“No measurement of time (with Seb) could have been enough," he said.

Damon Burke said Mr O’Halloran always looked out for him “like a brother”.

“I love you so much man,” he said.

“I will be forever grateful I knew someone as funny, hardworking and loving as you, may you rest in peace.

“Our brotherhood is something I will cherish for eternity, thank you for always being my big brother and looking out for me.

“You taught me some life lessons I’ll hold dearly … I’ll be forever grateful I met you and became one of your many brothers.”

An online fundraiser has been established to support Mr O’Halloran’s grieving family.

More than $12,000 had been raised on Sunday night.

“Seb was a dearly loved son, brother, grandson and mate. Anyone who knew him loved his personality, cheeky ways, his passion for motocross, hard work ethic and love for his family & friends,” the fundraiser read.

“Seb’s passing has shocked his loved ones and our community alike and is something we’re still trying to process.”

Mr O’Halloran’s death makes him the latest victim in a spate of deadly teen knife crimes across the state.

In June, 16-year-old Pasawm Lyhym was stabbed to death at Sunshine train station.

In September, 14-year-old Benjamin was hospitalised with life-threatening injuries and placed in an induced coma after he was stabbed in an abduction attempt in Glen Huntly.

And 21-year-old Wyndham Vale man Adam Robinson was killed last month when he was stabbed near his home.
