Harrowing footage has emerged of teen thugs violently attacking a woman with Down syndrome at Southern Cross Station.
The woman was taunted and then repeatedly kicked in the head, punched in the throat and thrown to the ground by a group of thug teenagers.
The distressing footage — posted online by her attackers — captures the bashing, in which the woman is left helpless on the floor with her dress above her waist.
“That was (the) aim, you got what you deserve bitch,” one of the female offenders was heard to say, in the video obtained by 7 News.
The attacks are seen as a growing trend where violent youth aim to get ‘clicks’ and ‘likes’ on social media by bashing innocent victims.
The disgusting Southern Cross Station assault only ended when an elderly man bravely intervened and stepped in between the woman and her attackers.
One of the young females is filmed standing next to the elderly man, staring at the woman lying, beaten up and half dressed, on the station’s floor, while he ushers them away.
Youth crime experts say that many of these incidents are pre-orchestrated with the intention of injuring their targets to get a significant reaction on digital platforms.
This incident follows a string of violent youth attacks, with a 15-year-old girl bashed in Mildura by a 12-year-old last week, and the footage posted on social media.
