A teenager is fighting for life after falling from the roof of a moving car in Box Hill North.
Feathers, believed to be from the victim’s jacket, could be seen strewn along Harrison St in the wake of the incident.
Victoria Police were called to the area, near Rye St, about 2am on Saturday.
It is believed the victim, a 19-year-old man from Rye, was riding on the roof of a car when he fell, striking his head on the bitumen.
He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man from Glen Iris, was arrested and has since been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury.
It is believed five men were on board the Nissan Patrol at the time of the incident.
The vehicle was found in a street about 250m away.
“To fall from a moving vehicle on to quite hard bitumen as we have here is a recipe for disaster,” Detective Sergeant Stephen Hill told 7NEWS.
“If it turns out the victim was on the outside of the vehicle, it represents some really bad choices … and it’s an extremely dangerous exercise,” he said.
The victim on Sunday remained in a critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 7.
