A man has been charged after allegedly crashing a stolen car into a tree during a police chase in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

A man who allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle during a police chase has been arrested and charged in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Police spotted the allegedly stolen white Hyundai on the Tullamarine Freeway about midnight on Tuesday, before they lost sight of the vehicle as it travelled through the northern suburbs.
Air Wing spotted the car at a Pascoe Vale property but the driver allegedly sped off before crashing into a nature strip tree at Wattle Ave in Oak Park.
A 37-year-old Sydenham man was arrested by the dog squad in the front yard of a home, where he was allegedly trying to hide.
He was charged with theft of vehicle, handling stolen goods, possessing property believed to be proceeds of crime, committing indictable offence while on bail as well as driving and drug offences.
He will appear at Broadmeadows’ Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
