A South Yarra mum had a blood-alcohol level almost seven times over the legal limit when she was found in a damaged car with her kids.

Police were called to the scene of a collision at the intersection of Walsh Street and Domain Road at about 3.40pm.

It is alleged the woman drove off before exchanging details with those involved in the collision.

She was eventually tracked back to her South Yarra home where police found the woman and her two young children in the damaged vehicle.

She registered a .341 breath test at a local police station. Police impounded her car at a cost of almost $900 and suspended her licence.

Police are expected to charge the woman on summons with drink driving and other driving offences.
