Police are investigating after shots were fired into a home in Albion in Melbourne’s west.

Officers were called to reports of several gunshots on Burnewang St on Sunday about 5.30am.

Several people were inside the home but no one was injured.

The offender or offenders fled the scene and investigations remain ongoing.

One resident told the Herald Sun they heard a loud bang and rushed to the window before spotting a car speeding off.

“I heard a loud bang and thought ‘what the hell’. Then I heard five more,” they said.

“I rushed to the blinds and saw a car speed off.

“(The car) had a sloping back and it was rounded.

“There are a lot of young kids in there and somebody has fired shots knowing there are kids in there.

“There are bunkbeds in the window, kid bunkbeds and those f**kers have shot through the house.”

Another neighbour said they heard “popping noises” early in the morning which were so loud it made them jump out of bed.

“I could hear a car speeding away,” they said.

“I came out onto the street.

“We walked down the street, got down to the house where it was and saw six bullet holes - three in each window.”

Another resident, Evo Mattio, said he was also woken by the shooting.

“In the morning, I heard shots and the car speeding off,” he said.

“It woke me up that was it. It’s normally very quiet, everyone was shocked in the street.”

Another neighbour said that the police had been called to a unit behind the house before.

Police are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam to contact Crime Stoppers.

More to come.
