The death of a 21-year-old, who was stabbed just metres from his home in Melbourne’s west after a late-night brawl, has left his loved ones “shattered”.

Tributes were flowing on social media on Sunday for Adam, with a witness describing seeing him lying on the street “not moving” in Wyndham Vale next to a baseball bat.

It is understood two groups of people were in a fight at Butler Grove about 9.45pm on Friday before Adam was stabbed.

It’s believed Adam was with a friend at the time and chased along the street near where he lived by offenders before he was killed.

Butler Grove resident Tiffany said she saw the young man unconscious next to her driveway.

“He was laying there not moving at all,” she said.

“He was next to a red baseball bat and I thought he had been badly beaten.

“He could not move, he looked dead.”

Tiffany said a car full of friends or family then picked him up and drove him around the corner to his home.

A makeshift memorial with flowers, vapes, beer and Jack Daniels was on Sunday set up outside Adam’s home.

“I’m shattered and can’t believe you are gone Adam,” family friend Cindy Lee posted on Facebook.

“I loved you like you were my own son.

“You were such a funny and caring young man.

“I will remember and miss you forever.”

Others described him as a “nice bloke”.

“Rest easy brother, I am sorry I couldn’t save you, all I could do was just hold you, you will get justice for this,” said one friend.

“Rest in peace Adam, you will be missed, fly high beautiful Angel,” said a third.

One neighbour said she heard “men shouting” outside her home and a car screeching away from the scene.

Mittal Ruparelia, who lives near where the incident occurred, said people were calling him in fear on Friday, trying to work out what had happened.

“I pray to God that everything settles down because this is very hard for everyone,” he said.

“One of the neighbours was out and when he found out what happened he told me that he will not come home until Sunday or Monday”.

“My family was very anxious. I had them asking me every 15-20 minutes what was happening or if the police were still outside because they couldn’t sleep”.

Friends and family of the victim paid their respects outside his home on Saturday morning.

Adam’s killer remained at large on Sunday.

The incident was the latest in a series of knife attacks across Melbourne which include the abduction and stabbing of a year 9 Glen Eira Secondary College student earlier this month.

Knife violence has been especially prevalent in recent months, with stabbing incidents - both fatal and non-fatal - reported in Sunshine, St Albans, Wyndham Vale, Preston, Caulfield, Tarneit and Ripponlea.

Homicide detectives are investigating the Wyndham Vale incident.
