Seven teenagers are in custody this morning following a dramatic police chase involving stolen cars and weapons in Melbourne’s west overnight.

Police spotted an allegedly stolen white Skoda SUV travelling at dangerous speeds on Greens Rd in Wyndham Vale just after 11pm on Tuesday.

Backed by the Air Wing, officers pursued the Skoda through several western suburbs and over the West Gate Bridge towards Melbourne, and then back to the western suburbs.

The teens allegedly exited the vehicle at an address in Point Cook before hopping into a white Volvo and speeding off outbound on the Princess Freeway, eventually crashing into a tree on Wisdom Avenue in Truganina.

The group was swiftly arrested at the scene and taken into custody, where they remained on Wednesday morning.

Police allegedly found weapons in both vehicles.

The Skoda is alleged to have been stolen during an aggravated burglary in Tarneit on Sunday, while the Volvo was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary, also in Tarneit, on Tuesday.
