Missing man found after boat runs out of fuel in China Bay

A man who went missing after the boat he was on ran out of fuel on China Bay in Victoria’s southeast has been found safe.

A Tooradin man who went missing after the boat he was on ran out of fuel on the water in Warneet has been found.

Three men in their 20s were out on China Bay when they ran into trouble about 3.30pm on Monday.

One man made it to shore to raise the alarm about 9.30pm, and a second was found calling for help and covered in mud around the Rutherford Parade boat ramp.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the pair told police the third man had made it to shore and left the area on foot, but they were not forthcoming with further information.

An overnight air, land, and sea search was conducted for the third man before he was found safe and well on Tuesday.

The spokeswoman said the vessel was not fitted with a radio, flares, or safety equipment.
