Sam Abdulrahim sparring in boxing ring after ‘miracle’ recovery from shooting

Just months after being shot at close range in an assassination attempt, an ex-bikie is back sparring as he prepares to fight for a world ranking.

Sam “The Punisher” Abdulrahim's remarkable recovery

An underworld figure shot multiple times in a failed drive-by ambush has set tongues wagging after uploading footage sparring at the gym.

Gangland hit survivor Sam “The Punisher” Abdulrahim appears to have made a remarkable recovery from gunshot wounds sustained in the June 25 botched kill plot.

The Ex-Mongol has his sights set on a return to competitive boxing in coming months, having recently shared to his Instagram following that he was “back and ready” to fight.

This week, less than three months after being riddled with bullets, he shared footage sparring in the gym with a male training partner.

Abdulrahim, 30, was shirtless with his tattooed torso on show.

Sources closed to Abdulrahim said he was training daily and preparing for a competitive comeback in a bid to get a world ranking.

“He’s fighting fit,” one source said.

“He’s back. He’s got his eyes on the prize.”

The comeback fight is set to attract a large crowd, with allies of the feared underworld figure expected to show their support.

Abdulrahim is trained by Pierre Karam, a former sparring partner of American professional boxer Thomas Hearns.

Armed Crime Squad Detective Sergeant Bradley Potts has told the courts it was “a miracle” Abdulrahim survived the shooting, and that no one else was caught in the crossfire.

“The offending took place in a public area, in broad daylight with numerous other road users in close proximity,” he said in September.

“The offenders discharged a firearm with the sole intention to cause death to Abdulrahim without any regard for the safety of others in the vehicle, or those in the immediate area.”

Two suspects responsible for the alleged shooting are believed to have used false passports to flee Melbourne.

Police believe the pair are overseas, having fled Australia within 48 hours of the attack.

The investigation is ongoing.
