Richard Pusey’s latest bizarre witness list rejected

A Supreme Court judge has refused the majority of Pusey’s subpoena application, including his requests for a child murderer, a dead killer and a dementia patient to be called to testify.

Notorious Porsche speedster Richard Pusey wants a WorkSafe report into the Eastern Freeway crash that killed four police officers to be handed over to help in his fight for freedom.

The former mortgage broker also sought in the Supreme Court on Tuesday a bizarre witness list of who he would like to call to give evidence when he represents himself in yet another bail application next month.

Among them included Nick Foa, head of transport services for the Department of Transport, and a builder Pusey claims duped him of $37,000 over a kitchen installation at his home.

“Nick Foa made some comments in the Herald Sun this year around how dangerous it is to park in emergency lanes in freeways and there was some commentary around how shocking it was,” Pusey told the court.

He added that he thought it “would be a good opportunity” for Mr Foa to come to court and explain why Victoria Police continued to risk their lives and other motorists by pulling people over in freeway lanes.

Pusey told the court he also wanted a Victorian police officer who took out an intervention order against him to be called to explain why he did it, suggesting corruption within the force.

It follows similar requests from him last week for a child murderer, a dead killer and a dementia patient to be called to testify.

But Supreme Court judge Lesley Taylor refused the majority of his subpoena application, warning Pusey that they were not relevant to his bail application.

She added that it was not the right forum for him to be airing his grievances.

“The proceedings before me are not a broad ranging inquiry into other matters,” Justice Taylor said. “It’s not a forum for you to pursue all of these things.”

Pusey, 43, is behind bars after being arrested in February for publicly sharing graphic images he took of dying police officers in the April 2020 crash.

Police have opposed him being released on bail, fearing he will continue to share the images.

They have seized his electronic devices, but investigators say he refused to reveal his passwords, so he could still have access to the images if he had backed them up on iCloud.

It was for this reason that magistrate Michelle Mykytowycz deemed him an unacceptable risk of committing further offences and denied him bail last month.

Ditching all his previous lawyers, Pusey has now taken his fight to the Supreme Court where he will apply for bail on July 8.

Justice Taylor has approved for Pusey to call a disability support worker he earlier described as a “modern day hero” and who he proposed to live with if he is released.

Wearing a prison-issued grey jumper and tracksuit pants, Pusey remained polite and thanked Justice Taylor throughout the hearing.

Pusey first made headlines when he was charged and jailed for causing public outrage when he took photos of the four police officers — Glen Humphris, Kevin King, Lynette Taylor and Joshua Prestney — in the aftermath of the Eastern Fwy crash.

Pusey had been stopped for speeding on the freeway when a drug-addled truck driver ploughed into the four police members.

He is now charged with two counts each of using a carriage service to cause offence and committing an indictable offence on bail.

Police allege he attached the images to a complaint made to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority in November about his car insurance company, PSC Insurance Group, rejecting his claim over his Porsche, which was damaged in the collision.

He is also accused of sharing a crash photo in a Google review of Porsche Centre Melbourne on February 7.
