Police uncovered a stash of weapons that would rival “Rambo’s arsenal” following an extensive drug trafficking investigation in Melbourne’s east.

Two men are facing serious charges after investigators raided four properties and a storage unit in Doncaster, Doncaster East, Box Hill and Box Hill North on Wednesday and Thursday.

Two samurai swords, two knuckle dusters, a butterfly knife, flick knife, nunchaku, kukri,

throwing knife, meat cleaver and ammunition were seized.

Police also seized cocaine, methylamphetamine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine with an estimated street value of more than $31,000 in addition to $10,000 in cash.

Detective Acting Inspector Jason Walsh said the weapons stockpile was extraordinary.

“Over the course of this week’s warrants, we have uncovered and seized more knives and weapons than you would find in Rambo’s arsenal,” he said.

A 30-year-old man Box Hill man was charged with 33 offences including traffick cocaine, traffick methylamphetamine, traffick heroin, possess cocaine, possess methylamphetamine, possess heroin, possess cannabis, possess proceeds of crime, possess cartridge ammunition without licence and possess prohibited weapon.

His co-accused, a 25-year-old man Doncaster man, was charged with offences including possess drug of dependence, possess proceeds of crime and commit indictable offence while on bail.

He was bailed to face Ringwood Magistrate’s Court on February 18.

The arrest operation followed an extensive eight-month investigation by Box Hill Crime Squad detectives.

They allege the 30-year-old accused was a high-level drug trafficker.

“Our streets became a little bit safer this week, following the seizure of an assortment

of dangerous weapons and the arrest of an individual we will allege has been

trafficking various types of illicit substances,” Insp Walsh.

“Police will stop at nothing to track down and charge those who seek to profit from

the sale of dangerous drugs in our community, and make sure they face the full force

of the law.”
