A man has been taken from a Mornington house after a tense stand-off with police.
Dozens of police and at least one firefighting unit swarmed Wood St about 2pm on Monday after a man barricaded himself into a unit.
The Herald Sun has been told police went to the quiet residential street to arrest a man and were threatened with a crossbow when they arrived.
It is understood the man also claimed he had a bomb.
About 90 minutes after the siege began it appeared to be over.
At 3.20pm a man could be seen sitting in the gutter outside the unit.
His hands were behind his back and he appeared to be wearing handcuffs.
A resident who lives nearby said the man had been living in the four unit block for about four months.
Neighbours had heard him yelling from the backyard at odd times.
Moomba St resident Debbie Yallop was shocked to see so many police in her neighbourhood.
“The police chopper was hovering right above us for about half an hour,’ she said.
“I went outside to see what was going on and there were police everywhere, even tactical response officers.
‘It was pretty scary.
“This is meant to be the quiet part of Mornington!”
