A Craigieburn man has been charged with setting his Tibetan mastiff dog onto police.
That man, aged 66, was arrested on Tuesday in Technical Drive, Craigieburn, by members of the VIPER taskforce.
The Herald Sun understands he was on his way to work at Heavy Haulage Towing, a company operated by senior Hells Angel Peter “Skitzo” Hewat.
A Victoria Police statement said four guns and ammunition were seized in a subsequent search of the arrested man’s Craigieburn home as VIPER carried out a firearms prohibition order check.
He was charged with assaulting police, hindering police, resisting police, wilfully engaging a dog to attack, possessing an imitation firearm and possessing cartridge ammunition.
Police said he had been bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on June 18.
Four Flintlock pistols, seven rounds of ammunition and an imitation firearm were among items allegedly seized at the address, a Victoria Police statement said.
The first four charges relate to an incident in late December in which members were allegedly confronted with a large Tibetan mastiff dog at a Pembroke Crescent property.
“The investigation remains ongoing,” police said.
