A student has been confronted by machete-wielding thugs outside a Braybrook school in what’s feared to be retaliation for the stabbing death of 16-year-old Pasawm Lyhym.

The incident in Braybrook is the latest in a series of violent youth crimes in Melbourne suburbs.
The incident in Braybrook is the latest in a series of violent youth crimes in Melbourne suburbs.

A teenage boy has escaped serious injury after two machete-wielding thugs allegedly threatened him in Melbourne’s west on Friday afternoon.

The boy was threatened with the large knives outside Caroline Chisholm Catholic College in Braybrook after an altercation and raced off before he was attacked.

A Victoria police spokeswoman confirmed that police have been told about 3.30pm on 28 July a teenage boy was on Churchill Ave, Braybrook when he was approached by two males.

A short conversation took place and it is alleged the males produced edged weapons and threatened the teen, police said.

The victim managed to run off, as did the offenders.

Police arrived and searched the area, however no arrests have been made at this stage and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police seized a 40-centimetre blade on Saturday morning.

Witnesses told 9 News the attack may be in retaliation to the death of 16-year-old Pasawm Lyhym who was stabbed in Sunshine in May.

They reported an email from the school principal was sent to parents stating “the incident involved two young men approaching and pursuing one of our students, thankfully no one was harmed”.

“Please be assured that the safety and wellbeing of every student is our highest priority.”

This is the latest incident in a youth crime spree out of control and comes amid escalating youth violence in the western suburbs of Melbourne, including recent similar attacks in Tarneit, Watergardens and Preston.

Frustrated parents concerned about the wellbeing of their children have told the Herald Sun they are pleading for a stronger police presence to combat the increased levels of youth crime in the area.
