A police officer investigated in the Dani Laidley photo scandal has been sacked over internal charges related to other images.
Detective Senior Constable Murray Gentner was one of four officers charged over pictures of corpses found on his phone.
He had been charged with disgraceful conduct after an inquiry by professional standards command.
A Victoria Police statement confirmed a detective from the southern metro region had been dismissed.
“ProfessionalsStandards command charged the 45-year-old man with one count of disgraceful/improper conduct in February and he was suspended without pay,” the statement said.
“The charge relates to the sharing of crime scene photos via a messaging app.”
Three other police are still to be dealt with over the corpse pictures and will appear at a future disciplinary hearing.
None has been charged with criminal offences.
Sen-Const Gentner had previously been charged and cleared over the Laidley matter.
Pictures of the former North Melbourne coach were distributed after she was arrested and taken into custody at St Kilda police station in May, 2020.
