Investigators will rely on the results of a post mortem to reveal how a man died after his body was found in a Bundoora creek.
Emergency crews pulled the body of a 41-year-old Thomastown man out of deep water in a reserve off Greenhills Rd in Bundoora about 3.30pm on Wednesday.
Police say his cause of death remained unclear, but it is not currently being treated as suspicious.
Investigators are waiting for the results of a post mortem to shed light on his exact cause of death.
Whether the man died as a result of drowning or died before he entered the water will be central to the police investigation.
SES members were seen wading through chest-deep water to recover his body just off Darebin Creek Trail on Wednesday afternoon while other crews scoured the reserve nearby.
