Victoria Police is hunting for up to eight youths who allegedly stole a luxury vehicle from a Bentleigh East gym before taking it on a dangerous joy ride through Melbourne’s southeast.
The incident occurred at 8.15am on Wednesday morning at the Snap Fitness Gym in Bentleigh East.
It’s believed the owner of the vehicle was training at the gym when thieves allegedly gained access to the facility via a stolen access card, going on to steal the owner’s keys from a locker room.
The vehicle owner, Steve Kokoras, has told the Herald Sun he’s the latest victim of thugs stealing cars from gyms in the southeast.
Footage has emerged of the youths allegedly taking the vehicle on a dangerous joy ride on a main street in Bentleigh East, with footage showing a youth passenger sitting and hanging out of the window as a gang follows on foot, egging the driver on.
Authorities located the car in Hampton late Thursday morning but remain on the hunt for the alleged offenders, with fears they could strike again.
The keys of the vehicle also remain missing.
